1.“Ask your supermarket to make the switch.
Your help in getting supermarkets to take incandescent bulbs off their shelves is vital. In the UK, around 80 per cent of domestic bulbs sold are wasteful, incandescent bulbs. If all retailers in the UK only stocked energy efficient light bulbs, the UK could save over five million tonnes of CO2 emissions a year – more than the CO2 emissions of the 26 lowest countries combined!”
www.greenpeace.org.uk/climate/what-you-can-do/ask-your-supermarket-to-make-the-switch
Asked ARGOS, ASDA, B&Q, BUDGENS, IKEA, SAINSBURY, JOHN LEWIS, MORRISON, TESCO, WAITROSE, WOOLWORTHS to make stock only energy efficient light bulbs!
Its very simple just fill in your details on web form and its done! 2 minutes work can make a global difference. Thats 11 green activism letters send! 10 minutes work making a better world!
2.” Tell the government to make sure biofuels really are green fuels”
“Biofuels are often called 'green fuels' and certainly they can have environmental advantages over fossil fuels. But they also pose a threat to the world's food supplies, the rainforests and their wildlife, as well as the global climate.”
3. “Tell your MP nukes are not the answer
Tony Blair has announced that he wants a new generation of nuclear power stations.
Nuclear power won't stop climate change - but it will cost the Earth. It also produces deadly waste that we have no idea how to deal with and is a target for terrorists. As for energy security, replacing our existing fleet of reactors can only account for 3.6% of our overall energy demand. Every pound wasted on nuclear power is one which could have delivered seven times more carbon savings if spent on energy efficiency. “
4. “Say no to new coal
Eon wants to build the first new coal-fired generating units in the UK in over 30 years. The application could herald a new coal rush ion the UK - help us to stop the application.”
5. “Tell BA to get serious about climate change
BA have just announced the launch of a completely unnecessary route between London and Cornwall. Most UK routes can easily be traveled by train, causing 10 times less climate damage.
Email BA's Chief executive.”
6.Email Gordon about doing something about combating climate change.
7. “Holiday closer to home
Planning your next holiday? Dreaming of unwinding, relaxing, and kicking back with a good book? Or maybe you enjoy discovering new places, and throwing yourself into adventures.
Whether it’s the sea, the mountains, a city break, or somewhere tucked away where you won’t be disturbed – you don’t have to go far to find it.
Some habits kind of feel like they’re good, but they aren’t. Flying for instance. There’s no getting around the fact that aircraft just pipe greenhouse gases into our upper atmosphere, where they immediately do most damage.
Take the train instead of the plane to Barcelona, and your journey will emit 95% less carbon. Similarly a flight from London to Paris or Brussels emits over 10 times the amount of carbon per passenger than the train.”
8. “Spread climate love
Why don’t you say it with locally grown, in-season flowers, or a plant that keeps on growing.
As well as daffodils, other seasonal, home-grown flowers to look out for include freesia, germini, iris, roses, narcissi, tulips, delphiniums, solidaster, and chrysanthemums. Better still, buy a potted plant. And if you can’t resist exotic flowers from overseas then make sure that they’ve got the Fairtrade mark.”
9. “Thanks for completing your pledge... how about now looking at one of the other actions?
Support climate-friendly homes
Energy efficient homes, green mortgages, solar panels, mini wind turbines and small hydro - all these will help put the UK on a low-carbon path. And you can help make them happen by showing your support for the 'Energy Efficiency and Microgeneration Bill' which will be going to the House of Lords.
A quarter of all UK carbon dioxide emissions come from the housing sector. This bill is all about reducing these emissions and promoting energy efficiency.
Please don't get this Bill confused with the Climate Bill which you'll be hearing lots more from us about, over the year.”
10. “Clothes swap
Nothing funky to put on? Don’t be sad – swap
Last year’s spring clothes not quite fitting the way they did? Feeling in need of a change? Instead of splurging out on new outfits, why not arrange a swap party with your friends? You could replace stuff you don’t want with stuff that’s much better, and they probably feel exactly the same way as you!”
11. “Dish the dirt
Ever considered the amount of water you waste to get your dishes squeaky clean? Use a sudsy bowl instead of a running tap or dishwasher and you’ll save gallons!
To help you on your way, Ecover, the UK’s leading brand of ecological cleaning products, is running a brilliant I Count promotion. Look out for special packs of washing up liquid and cleaning products for your chance to win a great prize. “
12. “Your Charity Vote for free and Co-Op bank will donate free money to them!
Vote now for the charity you'd like us to support as part of our Customers Who Care 'Combating Climate Change' campaign.
We'll be making donations later in the year based on your votes.
It's easy and wont cost you a penny extra, so vote now and show your support for these organisations:”

Stop Climate Chaos
http://survey.cooperativecampaigns.co.uk/charityvote/
While at it joined www.icount.org.uk and put my self on their map. Very happy to join many green living organizations.
Also singed up to their pledges and campaigns. In total 16 green things.
1.Grow the count. Spread the word about green living to your friends. Notified my friends about this site.
2.Love off - You can do this. Feel the power; it is all around you. It is the power of off, and it is limitless.
Try it. Take the telly off standby - 20kg of carbon saved in a single year. Stereo off standby - 66kg of carbon saved. DVD off standby - 44kg of carbon saved.
Feels good, doesn't it? Keep on going. Don't forget the mobile charger - feel its heat; if it's not charging it's still using juice. Turn it off. 10.5 kg saved. Nice one.
Your house has an average of 12 items on standby - hunt them down and turn them off.
3. “Act now
Together we can help stop climate chaos by cutting carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Due to thousands of people like you emailing their MPs calling for a Climate Change Bill, the Government announced in the Queen’s Speech (Wednesday 15 November 2006) that it would draft such a Bill. This is a great step forwards. However we don’t yet know what the wording of the Bill will be – and we want to make sure that the Bill will be truly effective. This means committing the UK to year-on-year cuts.
This will only happen if the government feels the heat from more MPs.
That's why we're asking you to send an email to your MP. It's their job to represent you - help make sure they do.
Three reasons to act now:
MPs get lonely and love to hear from nice people like you
It's easy-peasy
Feel part of making history”
4. “Cover up
Find a jumper you like. Put it on.
With your jumper on, step towards the central heating thermostat. Steady, turn the dial down 1°C. Rest.
In an average winter your action will save around £30, and 250kg of carbon.
Easy this one, isn’t it? Now you can look good, feel good, keep warm and cut your carbon emissions.
Never underestimate the power of a jumper.”
I've turned down my heating 95% time of the year OFF! Thats coz am so hot am like a central heating.
